Xhloe is an experimental electronic project from Tokyo that started around 2015, led by producer Xhloe Lee. Their debut single 'Tranquilizer' featured the virtual vocaloid Hatsune Miku and gained attention online. They followed it with another Miku collaboration, 'Vanitas Vanitas.'
Their sound pulls from ambient, techno, and classical textures, often built around Miku's processed, ethereal vocals. The group has released albums like 'Stillness in Motion' in 2017 and 'Synthetica' in 2019, plus the EP 'Echoes' in 2020.
Xhloe's lineup has included vocalist Yumi, keyboardist Haru, and drummer Hiro alongside Lee. Their work with a virtual singer drew some criticism from listeners who found it gimmicky, and they've dealt with copyright disputes that slowed things down at times.
They haven't put out much new material recently, but those early Miku tracks still pop up in playlists and remind people how odd that crossover felt when it first appeared.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
