Xian was a Filipino band active in the 1980s, led by vocalist and songwriter Louie Ocampo. They released their self-titled debut album in 1985, which included the single "Piña Colada." That song became a major hit in the Philippines, reaching the top of the charts and establishing the band's presence.
Their sound mixed pop and rock, with Ocampo's vocals a central feature. They followed up with albums like "Sa Piling Mo" in 1986 and "Dayo" in 1987. Other songs in their catalog include "Querido Tiempo" and "Yo No Soy Calle (part. Anonimus y Lunaty)."
The band's lineup included Ian Paje on guitar, Steve "Zito" Roco on bass, and Jaydee Roxas on drums. Xian disbanded in the early 1990s, but "Piña Colada" has remained a familiar song on Philippine radio and in karaoke bars since then.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
