Xigarra formed in 2006 when four friends from Lucena, Andalusia came together. The lineup included singer José Ignacio Cuartero, guitarist David Martínez, bassist Nacho Ruiz, and drummer Alberto Sanz. Their music pulls from flamenco, rock, and pop, creating a sound that's hard to pin down.
Their song 'Suave Dosis' came out in 2007 and quickly became a talking point. The track deals with drug addiction and its effects, which sparked a national conversation. Some listeners appreciated the honesty, while others felt the lyrics went too far.
They followed it with albums like 'Raíces' in 2010 and 'El Diluvio Universal' in 2013. In 2011, the band had to fight a legal battle over their name, which they eventually won.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
