Ximena was a freestyle group active in the early 1990s, led by a Puerto Rican singer of the same name. Their debut single "In My Dreams" came out in 1992 and did well on freestyle charts. They followed it with albums like "No More Tears" in 1993 and "X-Factor" in 1994.
Their sound mixed pop, hip-hop, and Latin rhythms. Other songs from that period include "Who's Cryin' Now?" and "Not Another Lonely Night." The group faced some legal disputes over contracts and royalties, which made it harder for them to put out new music consistently.
They released a few more records through the mid-1990s, including "Love Me" in 1995 and a compilation in 1997. The core lineup included Ximena Sariñana on vocals, Chris Barbosa on keyboards, Carlos Berrios on drums, and John "JB" Beato on bass.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
