Archive material and source history
Xitão formed in 2005 with vocalist Ana Clara and guitarist João Lira. Their debut album, 'My Soul, Tell Everything,' included the track 'My Soul,' which connected with listeners in Brazil. The band's rhythm section featured bassist Pedro Santos and drummer Maria Silva.
The band took a break around that time. Their second album was called 'The Pulse of the World,' and later they released 'The Legacy of the Ancients' and 'The Voice of the People.'
Their music drew from Brazilian rhythms like samba and bossa nova, along with rock, folk, and electronic elements. Ana Clara's vocals and João Lira's guitar work defined much of their sound.
