Xixakerê formed in Salvador, Bahia in 2006 around vocalist Dani Vieira and percussionist Rafael Silveira. Their music pulls from the region's samba, reggae, and axé traditions, mixed with rock and funk elements. Their 2010 self-titled debut included the radio hit 'A Onde Você Quiser,' which helped push them toward a wider Brazilian audience.
They've released several albums since, including Levitar in 2013 and Cê Tá Dançando in 2016. The band's lineup has included Felipe Sousa on guitar, Thiago Andrade on bass, Ricardo Sodré on keyboards, and Marcelo Teles on drums. Another of their songs, 'O Amor Em Mim,' appears among their most popular tracks.
Their sound stays rooted in Bahian rhythms while incorporating other styles, a blend that has found listeners both in Brazil and abroad. They put out albums regularly through the 2010s and into the 2020s, with Acústico arriving in 2023.
