Xô te Amar formed in Belo Horizonte in 1995 with Neco Cereja on vocals and guitar, Cristiano Baeta on drums, and Marcelo Castelli on bass. They built a following through live shows before their song 'Eterno Querer' became a radio hit in 1999.
That song's emotional lyrics drew some criticism, but the band kept playing. They released albums like 'Xô, te Amar' in 1999, 'Casa Nova' in 2002, and 'Cantos de Esperança' in 2005.
Later, guitarist Rodrigo Sanchez and keyboardist Chico César joined the lineup. The band has worked with artists including Milton Nascimento, Carlinhos Brown, and Gilberto Gil.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
