Xololanxinxo formed in Mexico City in the late 1990s, with vocalist Xolo at the center. The band's name translates to "angry dog," which gives you a sense of the energy they brought to their mix of thrash metal, ska, and traditional Mexican rhythms. Their early years saw frequent lineup changes and the kind of financial strain that's common for bands starting out in that scene.
In 2006, they released the album "Despertar," which included the track "Payback." That song became something of an anthem, connecting with listeners through its raw delivery and pointed lyrics. The band went on to release several more albums over the next fifteen years, including "El Guerrero Jaguar" in 2008 and "Resistencia" in 2021.
Their music often addressed social and political themes, which naturally drew both support and criticism. The current lineup features Xolo on vocals, Chilango on guitar, Mayito on bass, and Chino on drums.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
