Xonadões do Forró formed in 1992 in Campina Grande, Paraíba. Their debut album 'Xonadão do Forró' came out in 1995, featuring the hit 'Ela Não Me Deixa Só' that helped bring them national attention in Brazil.
They've released more than thirty studio albums, including titles like 'Tô Nem Aí' from 2000 and 'Vai Xonar' from 2012. The group's current members include Xandy Avião on vocals, Beto Jamaica on bass, Marquinhos Maraial on accordion, Carlinhos Serra Negra on zabumba, Emanoel Gurgel on triangle, and Danilo Dimmy on keyboards.
Some listeners felt their approach to forró, which sometimes incorporated pop and other styles, strayed from tradition. They kept working regardless, playing festivals and dance halls across the country.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
