Xote Bagunçu formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1999, taking their name from the Portuguese phrase for 'chaotic shuffle.' Their debut album 'Dizem Que Sou Louco' came out in 2002, mixing samba, forró, and rock. The band's 2013 single 'A Luz do Amor' became one of their most recognizable songs.
In 2008, they released 'Nós Aqui Agora,' an album that drew some criticism for moving toward pop and electronic sounds. They followed it with 'Festa' in 2010, which pulled back toward their earlier style. Other tracks like 'Carnaval de Constelações' and 'Dengo' show their range within Brazilian rhythms.
The group includes João Cavalcanti on vocals and guitar, Pedro Sanchez on guitar, Marcos Ulhoa on bass, Leonardo Moraes on drums, and Théo da Cuíca on traditional percussion. Their live shows are known for high energy, built around those percussive foundations.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
