Xoteados were a Brazilian band known for romantic songs in the forró tradition. Their 1995 debut album Nosso Xote included 'Lindo Lago do Amor,' which became a popular hit. They followed it with albums like Forró do Meu Sertão in 1997 and O Amor É Cego in 2000, sticking mostly to love themes and regional rhythms.
The core members were José 'Zé' Pereira on vocals, Antônio 'Toninho' Silva on accordion, and Francisco 'Chico' Rodrigues on guitar. They recorded a live album in 2005. Some of their material drew on traditional melodies, which led to copyright disputes. Another song, 'Tentativas Em Vão,' appears among their better-known tracks.
Zé Pereira had public struggles with alcohol that affected the band's schedule. They stopped releasing new music after the mid-2000s.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
