XoteRoots formed in 2008 in Salvador, Bahia, around accordionist Fábio Carneirinho. The band includes vocalist Bruna Caram, bassist Léo Marçal, and drummer Cléber Sampaio. Their sound pulls from traditional Brazilian styles like forró, samba, and baião, with Carneirinho's accordion work at the center.
Their debut album, 'XoteRoots,' featured the track 'Morena da Barra,' which became widely known. They've released several albums since, including 'O Céu da Boca' and 'Parceria,' and have worked with artists like Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil. In 2017, there were some plagiarism claims about 'Morena da Barra,' which the band denied.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
