XP8 formed in London in the early 1980s, with Adam Pierce on vocals and guitar, Miles Francis on bass and vocals, and Mark Seigel on drums. Pierce and Francis had previously been in a band called The Name. Their early shows drew mixed reactions, with some audiences unsure what to make of their theatrical, introspective style.
They released a debut album called "The Shadow of Time," followed by "A Gothic Novel," which shares its name with one of their better-known songs.
In the 1990s and 2000s, XP8 kept touring and putting out music, though they weren't as prominent as they had been earlier. Songs like "After All," "Angel And The Beast," and "Commercial Love" show the range of their catalog, from moody ballads to more direct, rhythmic tracks.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
