Xploding Plastix came out of New York City's underground in the early 1980s, led by Jordan Tarlow. Their sound was hard to pin down, mixing rock, punk, industrial, and electronica. They were known for provocative live shows that sometimes got them into trouble with authorities.
They put out a few albums, including their debut 'Blowout' in 1981 and 'Plasticity' in 1987. 'Plasticity' had 'Funnybones & Lazylegs,' which became their most recognizable track. Another song, 'Sunset Spirals,' featured Sarah Cracknell on vocals.
The band's lineup included Tarlow on vocals and guitar, Matt Johnson on bass, and Bill Alletzhauser on drums. Their approach to music and performance was divisive at the time, drawing both strong admiration and sharp criticism. They stopped being active after the late 1980s.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
