Xrs came out of Salvador in northeastern Brazil, playing a style that got called axé music. Their 1993 album had the song "Caio Na Gandaia," which became a hit and helped define that sound for a lot of people.
They were a band with Junior on vocals, Jorge on guitar, Gilberto on drums, and Robson on bass. Their lyrics sometimes touched on social issues, which didn't always sit well with everyone. They kept at it anyway, putting out albums like "É o Tchan" in 1995 and "Dança da Nova Geração" in 1997.
By 2003 they had a compilation out called "Xrs 10 Anos." The music had a particular energy to it, tied to that part of Brazil, and it stuck around.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
