Xtruppaw formed in 2007 with Désiré François (Tiburce), Jason Ravaton, and Stéphane Benoît from Roche Bois. They worked with Mauritian rhythms and Jamaican dancehall beats, though the early years had limited resources.
Their 2011 single "Diska Cool Ghar-radio" became a national hit in Mauritius. Other songs like "Generazzjoni Ta' Meqrudin" and "Glorja Tonna" followed, with lyrics that sometimes addressed social issues and drew mixed reactions.
Désiré François stayed as frontman and songwriter, with Jason Ravaton on lead vocals and Stéphane Benoît on keyboards. Their music reached audiences in the Indian Ocean region, but the band's lineup and sound shifted over time.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
