Ya Kid K is a band that formed in South London around 2006, started by childhood friends Michael Weeks and Jordan Miller. Weeks handles lead vocals and guitar, while Miller plays drums and percussion. They were later joined by Tom Minns on guitar and backing vocals and Tom Hawes on bass and backing vocals.
Their song 'Awesome (You Are My Hero)' became their most recognizable track, known for its uplifting message. Other songs in their catalog include 'Get Up (Before the Night is Over)', 'One world nation', 'That Man', and the self-titled 'Ya Kid K'.
They released albums like The Awesomes in 2009, This World is Yours in 2012, and Somewhere New in 2016. In 2014, they had to publicly distance themselves when one of their songs was used in a political advertising campaign without their approval.
