Yamil Martínez and Delfín Quishpe formed the duo Yamil y Delfín in Cuenca, Ecuador. They started playing at local festivals there, with Delfín handling the charango, a traditional Andean instrument, and Yamil on vocals and guitar.
Their song "Bailen" became popular, and they released a debut album with the same name. Other tracks like "Desde que llegó" and "Ritmo Clandestino" followed. Some listeners felt they were moving away from traditional sounds, but they kept working with the material they had.
They put out more albums, including "Tu Amor Me Hace Bien" and "La Fiesta Continúa." The music stayed rooted in Ecuadorian rhythms while reaching a wider audience.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
