Archive material and source history
Yammat formed in 2003 in the Bosnian town of Fojnica, with Sabina Žužek on vocals, Marko Nikolić on guitar, and Dženan Mrnjavac on drums. The band's name means 'swarm' in Bosnian. They released their debut album 'Kao More' in 2005.
Their song 'Da li je stvarno?' from that album became a hit, a ballad about love and personal change. Other tracks like 'Nada' and 'Putujem' show their mix of Balkan melodies with rock elements.
Yammat toured internationally and played at festivals. They worked with musicians including gypsy violinist Boban Marković and Turkish singer Zerrin Özer. Their lyrics sometimes addressed political and social topics, which drew both support and criticism.
