Yan Brenner grew up in Salvador, Bahia, where he absorbed the rhythms of Candomblé and bossa nova. He cites Milton Nascimento and Caetano Veloso as early influences. In 2012, his debut album 'Aguardando a Sua Volta' brought him national attention, with the title track becoming a hit. The album was well-received by critics.
He followed with albums like 'Cordas' in 2015 and 'Transparente' in 2018, which moved toward more introspective material. In 2017, he was involved in a public dispute with a former bandmate over ownership of certain work.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
