Yan Sterck grew up in a musical family in Brazil, with his father Yuri Sterck being a musician and composer and his mother Josiel Sterck a singer. He learned guitar and vocals from them, developing an early connection to samba traditions.
He formed the group Samba Sem Lar with his siblings Josiel and Sâmara Sterck. Their song "Samba Sem Lar (part. Yuri Sterck, Josiel Sterck e Sâmara Sterck)" reflects their family collaboration. The group performed in Rio de Janeiro, mixing traditional samba rhythms with contemporary elements.
Samba Sem Lar released albums including "Alma de Samba" and "Na Batida do Berimbau." Some listeners felt their approach strayed from purist samba, but the group continued performing with their family-centered style.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
