Yanceyd formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1997 with five members: Gabriel, Rafael, Plinio, André, and Fernando. They started as a pop rock band, though their sound would shift over time.
Their 2001 debut album 'Samba Rock' included the track 'O sapo vestido de azul,' which became a national hit in Brazil. The song's catchy melody and playful lyrics about a toad in blue pants connected with a wide audience.
After that initial success, Yanceyd released several more albums including 'Na Base do Beijo' in 2003 and 'Afrotambo' in 2005. Their music incorporated different styles, moving between rock and samba influences. The lineup remained consistent throughout their recording years.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
