Yara Lemos came up in Salvador, Bahia, where she started performing at local festivals and community events. Her music draws from Brazilian samba and axé, with influences from artists like Gilberto Gil and Luiz Melodia.
In the early 2000s, she formed a band with guitarist Márcio Victor, drummer Bozó, bassist Rick Ferreira, and keyboardist Gustavo Gaton. Their debut album 'Carnaval' came out in 2005, and its lead single 'Esse é o Som' became a national hit. Other songs like 'Eu Quero' and 'Vem Dançar' also found an audience.
They've released several albums since then, including 'Yara Lemos' in 2007, 'A Vida é Boa' in 2010, and more recent work like 'Afrocidade' in 2019.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
