Yara Vellasco grew up in Rio de Janeiro, where she heard plenty of samba and bossa nova around her. She's mentioned Elis Regina and Marisa Monte as singers she listened to early on.
Her first single "Aceita" came out in 2015 and got some attention. She put out an album with the same name in 2017, then another called "Claro" in 2020. Another track people know is "Bumbum Tremendo."
She's worked with a few other Brazilian musicians, including Sergio Mendes and Carlinhos Brown. The existing write-up mentions she's talked about women's rights in her music, but doesn't get into specifics.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
