Yasmin Farias grew up in Salvador, Bahia, where her father was a percussionist. She started singing early, drawing from Brazilian rhythms and later reggae. In 2013, she worked with producer Luciano Gomes on her first single "Aquariana," which became popular internationally.
Her debut album "Yasmin Farias Ao Vivo em Salvador" came out in 2015 with original songs and traditional Brazilian material. She followed it with "Todo Amor" in 2018, which incorporated soul, jazz, and funk elements. Another track, "Trilha Sonora," appears among her top songs.
Farias has been outspoken in her lyrics about feminism and social justice, which has drawn some criticism. She performs with a band of Brazilian musicians and has collaborated with artists like Snoop Dogg and DJ Snake.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
