Yasmin Ferrari formed in Bogotá, Colombia around 2016 as a trio with María Fernanda Argote on vocals, Nicolás Jaramillo on guitar, and Jorge Mario Uribe on bass. Their music mixed rock with electronic elements, which didn't always sit easily with more conservative listeners in Colombia at the time.
Their 2017 debut album 'Desabroche' gave them their breakthrough, with the title track becoming an anthem for many. The song 'Tempo, Sol E Mundo' also appears among their most recognized work. The band's lyrics often dealt directly with sexuality, gender identity, and social justice topics.
After their debut, they released 'Cibernetismo' in 2019 and 'Fantasías para Desvelar' in 2021. Their sound kept evolving, incorporating bits of traditional Colombian music alongside psychedelic rock and experimental electronics. María Fernanda Argote's vocals moved between ethereal and raw delivery.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
