Yassir Chediak is a Brazilian singer-songwriter from Rio de Janeiro who began releasing music in the early 2000s. His debut album 'Caminho' came out in 2002, followed by 'Só Pra Ouvir' in 2005 and 'Um Pouco Mais' in 2008. These early works established his approach to songwriting before his breakthrough came with the 2012 album 'Amanheceu, Peguei a Viola.'
The title track from that 2012 album became his most recognizable song, joined by other tracks like 'Estradas,' 'O Sorriso Mais Bonito,' and 'Saudade da Minha Terra' in his catalog. His music draws from Brazilian folk traditions while incorporating other influences, resulting in a straightforward acoustic style built around guitar and vocals.
He performs with a small band that includes Tiago Rabelo on bass, Betão Aguiar on drums, and Rafael Castilho on keyboards. After 'Amanheceu, Peguei a Viola,' he released another album called 'Coisas Boas' in 2018, continuing to write and record in a similar vein.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
