Yeasayer

Yeasayer formed in Brooklyn in 2006 around Chris Keating, Ira Wolf Tuton, and Anand Wilder. Their first album, 'All Hour Cymbals,' came out the following year and set the tone for what they'd do: mix organic instruments with electronic textures, world music rhythms with pop structures. Songs like 'Sunrise' and '2080' from that record showed how they could make experimental ideas feel accessible.

They kept shifting with each album. 'Odd Blood' in 2010 leaned into more personal themes and tighter songwriting, yielding tracks like 'O.N.E.' and 'Madder Red' that became fan favorites. 'Fragrant World' two years later brought in elements of folk and hip-hop, while 'Amen & Goodbye' in 2016 arrived after Wilder's departure, with Keating moving to drums. Through it all, they maintained a core trio sound, even as their palette expanded.

Their last album, 'Erotic Reruns,' came out in 2022. It continued their pattern of exploring identity and time through layered arrangements, though by then their approach felt more settled than startling. What stayed consistent was their willingness to blend genres without losing the melodic anchor that made songs like 'Longevity' or 'Germs' stick.
