Yellra formed in 2002 with Jake Carter on vocals, Zack Richards on bass, Evan Jones on guitar, and Matt Wilson on drums. Their debut single 'Commander Chaos' came out a couple years later and got them noticed for its mix of nu-metal aggression and electronic textures.

They released their first album 'Chaos Reigns' in 2004, followed by 'Anarchy Rising' in 2006 and 'The Awakening' in 2009. Over those records, their sound shifted some, pulling in bits of progressive rock and electronic dance music alongside the heavier foundation.

By 2012 they were working on material that would become 'The Divide.' Their song 'Eternal Night' shows up in their catalog from this period, though it's not clear exactly which album it landed on.
