Yelsew formed in Seattle in the early 2000s with Yelsew on vocals and guitar, John Roderick on drums, and Jason Cropper on bass. They released three albums: their self-titled debut in 2002, followed by 'Hollow Heart' in 2004 and 'The Book' in 2006.
Their song 'Lua' appeared on the 2004 album 'Hollow Heart.' It became their most recognized track, a quiet ballad built around Yelsew's voice and acoustic guitar. Another song, 'Nuvens de Algodão,' also appears in their catalog.
The band's sound was spare and vocal-driven, with minimal instrumentation. They played for a few years in the mid-2000s before fading from view.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
