Yesid Ortiz grew up in the rural plains of Casanare, Colombia, where he absorbed the traditional sounds of the Llanos region. He started playing guitar early, and in 2006 he released his debut album, 'Sentimiento Llanero,' which brought him national attention in Colombia.
His 2008 single 'Me Despedí de Mi Llano' became particularly well-known. The song's lyrics about leaving his homeland resonated with many listeners who had similar experiences. Ortiz writes ballads that draw from the rhythms and melodies of his upbringing.
In 2010, Ortiz faced accusations of plagiarism, which he denied.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
