Yiannis Dimitras was born in Athens in 1951. His father was a musician, and he grew up listening to Greek singers like Stelios Kazantzidis and Giorgos Dalaras.
His debut album came out in 1980, titled 'Feggari Kalokerino' after its hit song. That track became widely known and helped establish him as a singer. He went on to release other albums through the 1980s and 1990s, including 'To Proto Mou Tragoudi' and 'Girizontas'.
Dimitras has performed with the National Opera of Greece and the Athens State Orchestra. He works with a regular band of instrumentalists. His music draws from traditional Greek styles and contemporary pop.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
