Yiannis Kotsiras started releasing music in the mid-1980s, putting out his first album 'I Agapi Tou Theou' in 1987. He plays bouzouki and sings, working with musicians like Nikos Souliotis on guitar and Vasilis Rakopoulos on bass.
In 1999 he released the album 'Pass the Flame,' which became one of his better-known works. The title track from that record has stayed in circulation in Greece.
He's had some run-ins with authorities over his comments, including a brief period in 2007 when state radio wouldn't play his music. He's put out more than twenty albums over time, including 'Akoustika' in 2002 and 'Poli Orkestra' in 2010.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
