Archive material and source history
Yin Yang Yo was a Brazilian pop duo formed in São Paulo in the early 2000s. The group consisted of vocalist Carlos Eduardo Taddeo, who went by Yin, and guitarist Bruno Alexandre, known as Yang. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2005, featuring the track "Tema De Abertura."
That first album included the song "Yin Yang Yo," which gave the group its name. They followed it with several more records over the next decade, including Vamos Dançar in 2007 and Vibrações Positivas in 2009.
Their music mixed pop with rock and funk elements, often with upbeat, danceable rhythms. While they found a following in Brazil, some critics questioned whether their lyrics leaned too much toward simple, feel-good themes.
