Yisa Yu is a quartet from Beijing that formed in 2005, with vocalist and songwriter Yu Yi, guitarist Zhou Lin, bassist Li Zhen, and drummer Wang Lei. They've released three studio albums and some singles, working with acoustic guitars and vocals that lean toward folk and rock.
Their song 'Cherished Memory' came out in 2016 and did well on Chinese charts. It's a ballad that people connected with for its sense of looking back. Another track, 'Stars And The Moon,' shows a similar style.
Some listeners find their lyrics introspective, which has drawn occasional criticism. The band has kept making music in that vein anyway, playing concerts that tend to feel intimate.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
