Yohalis formed in Bogotá, Colombia in 1998 around core members Santiago Cruz and Alejandro Posada. They worked with a mix of pop, folk, and Andean influences that some critics found unconventional at the time.
Their debut album 'Palabras al Viento' came out in 2007 and included the track 'La Niña Elena.' The song's melody and lyrics about a young woman's forbidden love connected with listeners and became their most recognized work.
After that, they released several more albums including 'El Tiempo Es' in 2010, 'La Canción de los Bosques' in 2013, and 'Yohalis Sinfónico' in 2015. These records continued to incorporate traditional Colombian rhythms into their sound.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
