Young Cleo formed in Melbourne in 2016, originally with Cleo Tucker on vocals, Cameron Graham on guitar, Cooper Wilkins on bass, and Jaslyn Gilliland on drums. They put out their debut EP 'Sugar Rush' in 2018, and its lead single 'My Honey' got a lot of attention. The band's sound leaned into soul and R&B, built around Tucker's voice.
Drummer Jaslyn Gilliland left the band in 2019, and Harry Armatas joined. They released the single 'Melanin Girl' that same year and followed with the EP 'Womanhood' in 2020. Tucker's lyrics and public comments about the music industry sometimes stirred debate.
After 2020, they put out the single 'Learn to Love' in 2021. The lineup settled with Tucker, Graham, Wilkins, and Armatas.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
