Young Darhi came together in Istanbul with Can Baydar on vocals and guitar, Deniz Baydar on bass, Ozan Yılmaz on drums, and Ersen Ertuğ handling electronics. They started playing in local clubs and street corners, working out their sound without much industry support.
In 2017, their song 'Semafaro' caught on with Turkish listeners. The track's moody melody and lyrics seemed to connect with people, and it became their first real break. They followed it with an album called 'Gece Yarısı' the next year.
Their music mixes traditional Turkish elements with electronic beats and rock, and they've kept experimenting on later releases like 'Haliç' and 'Sürtre.' Some of their songs touch on social issues, which has sparked debate at times, but they've kept making music that feels like their own.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
