Your Mom formed in Los Angeles in the early 2000s, with Kurdt Vanderhoof on vocals. They put out their first album, 'The Funeral,' in 2003. The band's sound had a rough, loud quality that pulled from punk and grunge, and they built a following playing local shows.
Vanderhoof's lyrics often dealt with personal struggles, and the band's live shows could be confrontational. They released several more albums through the 2000s, including 'Hotel Suicide' in 2005 and 'Gunshots to the Sun' in 2007. A song like 'Cosa Nostra' gives a sense of their direct, unpolished approach.
The lineup included Matt Cisneros on guitar, Matt Reese on bass, and Sal Abruscato on drums. Their last album listed here came out in 2012.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
