Your Schizophrenia, sometimes called Yours, formed in Los Angeles in the early 2000s. The band was fronted by vocalist Avery Lake. Their debut album 'Ennui' came out in 2004, followed by 'Atopia' in 2007 and 'Anhedonia' in 2010.
Their music often dealt with heavy themes, reflected in song titles like 'Lost Myself,' 'Heartsore,' and 'Sense Of Impending Doom.' The band's name and Lake's lyrics about mental illness and alienation drew criticism from some who felt they were trivializing serious issues. Lake said the name was meant to reflect inner turmoil.
Original members included guitarists Dennis Martinez and Cory Baker, bassist Andrew Lopez, and drummer Ryan Nelson. The lineup changed over time, with Lake remaining the constant. Later members included guitarist Jason Rojas, bassist Victor Lopez, and drummer Elliot Rodriguez.
Their live shows were known for intense strobe lights and dark imagery. They mixed electronic elements with heavy guitar riffs, operating on the edges of metalcore without staying neatly within it.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
