Archive material and source history
Yourness formed in Tokyo around 2005, with Nao on vocals, Hitoshi on guitar, Seishi on bass, and Masayuki on drums. Their first album 'Sanzoku' came out in 2007 and included the song 'Kago No Naka Ni Tori,' which became their most recognizable track. The band's sound mixed ambient textures with electronic elements and some traditional Japanese melodic touches.
Over time, the lineup shifted. Hitoshi left in 2010 and was replaced by Shinnosuke on guitar. Seishi died in 2015. Through these changes, Nao remained the consistent vocal presence. Later albums like 'Hikari' from 2012 and 'Cobalt' from 2018 continued their work with atmospheric electronics. Other songs like 'Kogarashi' and 'Shion' show the same moody, layered approach.
