Youth Defense League formed in Los Angeles in 1982, with Billy Bovine on vocals, Bobby Bazooka on guitar, Rocky Riot on bass, and Donny Dynamite on drums. They put out their first EP, 'Youth Defense,' the following year. Their debut album 'Blue Pride' came out in 1985, and the title track became one of their most recognized songs.
Their music often dealt with social and political themes, which sometimes led to friction at their shows. They kept recording through the late '80s and early '90s, with albums like 'A Call to Arms' and 'Defiant.' Other songs in their catalog include 'New Glory,' 'Skinheads 88,' and 'Voice of Brooklyn.'
After a long break, they released an album called 'Revival' in 2012.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
