Youthmovies formed in Hamburg in 2004, with Jonas Schubert on vocals and guitar and Jonas Schönemann on drums. Their first EP, 'Niagara,' came out in 2007, followed by the album 'Break My Heart' in 2009. They kept releasing records like 'Invisible Lines' in 2011, 'The Great Wide Open' in 2014, and 'Bloom' in 2018.
Their song 'Archive It Everywhere' from the 2011 album sparked some debate for its take on surveillance. The band's lineup changed at times, like when bassist Tobias Frohwein left in 2013, but Schubert and Schönemann stayed at the center.
They've mentioned My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, and Sigur Rós as influences. Their sound leans toward dream pop and shoegaze, with layered guitars and atmospheric vocals.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
