Yowamushi Pedal formed in 2012, inspired by the anime series of the same name. The original lineup included Hiroyuki Yoshino on vocals and guitar, Kensuke Satou on bass, and Souma Saitou on drums. Their debut single "Koi no Hime Hime Pettanko" found an audience with its catchy, comical lyrics about a petite girl.
Their music leans into energetic rock with pop and anime-inspired melodies. Songs like "I'm Ready," "Remind," and "Determination" have been used as theme songs for various anime series. In 2016, bassist Kensuke Satou left the group for health reasons, and the band later added Shohei Komatsu on bass and Shinnosuke Tachibana on guitar.
