Yu Bo formed in Beijing in the early 2000s, led by vocalist and songwriter Yu Quan. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2003, and its track "I Hear You" became an immediate favorite for its ethereal melody and poignant lyrics.
In 2007, Yu Quan was arrested for drug possession, which led to a temporary hiatus for the band. They returned to release albums like "Fan Hua" in 2010, "Xiang Yan" in 2013, and "Bu Quan" in 2019. Their music has incorporated folk, rock, and electronic elements while keeping an introspective style.
The band's lineup includes Yu Quan on vocals and guitar, Zhang Yongqiang on bass, and Li Jian on drums.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
