Yuawi formed in Mexico City around 2014, with Omar Góngora on lead vocals. Their debut album 'Movimiento Naranja' came out in 2017. The band's sound pulls from traditional Mexican styles like cumbia and son jarocho, mixing them with electronic elements.
Their song 'Movimiento Naranja' became something of an anthem, with lyrics that touch on social and political themes. The band faced some legal issues in 2018 over the use of that title, which they eventually worked out. They've released a few more albums since, including 'Tierra Bendita' in 2019 and 'Sonidos de la Revolución' in 2022.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
