Yug Werneck grew up in Rio de Janeiro, where his grandfather Paulo Werneck, an architect and guitarist, exposed him to Brazilian rhythms like samba and bossa nova. He released his debut EP "Interlúdio" in 2014, which blended acoustic guitar with ambient textures and personal lyrics.
His songs like "Azul," "Cura," and "Perguntas" often reflect his experiences with depression and anxiety, giving his music a raw, introspective quality. In 2018, he faced allegations of plagiarism in one of his songs, which he denied and was eventually cleared of.
Werneck performs with a band that includes Gustavo Miranda on bass, André Siqueira on drums, Daniel Barreto on guitar, and Thiago Stefanini on keyboards. He has collaborated with artists such as Mallu Magalhães, Rubel, and Marina Sena.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
