Yungtheu formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1994 with Anabela Franco on vocals, Marcelo de Jesus on guitar, Ricardo Motta on bass, and Bruno Covolan on drums. They released their debut album 'Curioso Caso do Dr. Willian' in 2000, which included the song 'A Flor Mais Bela do Jardim.' That track became their most recognizable work.
Their music often dealt with themes of love and mental health, which some critics found too dark. The band released three more albums: 'Cada Segundo' in 2003, 'A Noite Escura da Alma' in 2006, and 'Estrada Sem Volta' in 2010. Other songs in their catalog include 'Preciso de Um Tempo Pra Pensar' and 'Me Sinto Nas Nuvens.'
After several years without activity, Yungtheu played some live shows again in 2019. The original lineup stayed mostly intact throughout their recording years.
