Yuzu is a Japanese pop-rock duo formed in 1997 by childhood friends Yujin Kitagawa and Koji Iwasawa from Yokohama. They started making music together after being inspired by artists like the Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel. Their song 'Tsubasa' came out in 1999 and became a hit in Japan.
Kitagawa handles vocals and guitar while Iwasawa plays drums and bass. They've released albums including 'Horizon' in 2001, 'Home' in 2004, and 'Land' in 2013. Their music has appeared in various films, television shows, and commercials over time.
In 2008, Iwasawa was diagnosed with tinnitus, which led the duo to take a break from live performances for a while. They kept recording new material during that period. A plagiarism accusation surfaced in 2016 regarding a melody in one of their songs, but it was later shown to be unfounded.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
