Yves Klein Blue was a Japanese electronic band formed in the late 1990s, led by vocalist and producer Miho Hatori. The group took its name from French artist Yves Klein, whose monochrome paintings seemed to parallel their interest in stripped-down sound. Their debut album 'Everlasting Burning Flame' came out in 1998, followed by '19' in 2000, which included the title track that became one of their most recognizable songs.
Hatori's vocals floated over sparse electronic arrangements and unconventional rhythms, creating what some described as dreamlike or atmospheric music. The band toured internationally, building a following in Europe and North America. They released several more albums including 'Blue Hour' and 'Songs of Love and Hate' before disbanding in 2010.
Their songs like 'About The Future' and 'The Streetlight' often dealt with themes of love, loss, and what Hatori called the ephemeral nature of existence. While some critics found their approach challenging, others appreciated the quiet intensity of their work.
